In Korean florography, the magnolia represents a deep love for nature. [X-ray Magnolia] is a personal reflection of my own connection to nature. By using X-ray techniques, the magnolia’s inner essence is revealed, mirroring my desire to expose my inner self to the natural world. Living in the concrete jungle of Seoul, this piece expresses my longing for a deeper connection with nature amidst the urban environment.
To mimic the X-ray vision, I have only used the 0.03 mm pen to draw the magnolia. Vertical and hatching strokes were used for the stem and the carpels and stamens. Hatching strokes were applied with minimum pressure for the leaves and the petals.
